An urban health nurse posted at the sub-health centre in V.N.R. Nagar, Vadavalli, Coimbatore city, has been suspended after a preliminary inquiry found that she and her family had occupied an additional room beyond the portion designated for residence at the facility.

The action was taken by Deputy Director of Health Services P. Balusamy, who issued the suspension order on Sunday (March 8, 2026). He said the inquiry found that the nurse and her family had occupied space beyond the portion designated for residence, while the remaining area of the building is meant for official purposes, including storing medicines and supplies for the nearby UPHC, which is not to be used for living.
