Sales at the Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex have dipped by nearly 25% as large orders have declined despite sufficient arrivals. Traders attribute the slowdown partly to the LPG cylinder supply crisis affecting bulk buyers.
With good yields in neighbouring States, including Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the market is receiving about 500 truckloads of vegetables, which is sufficient to meet daily needs. However, the sales of goods, particularly vegetables, have dropped in the past two days as bulk customers, including hotels and educational institutions, have scaled down their operations owing to the LPG cylinder shortage.
