KARIMNAGAR
Karimnagar Two Town Sub-Inspector of police Chandrasekhar’s wife, Divya, 32, allegedly committed suicide by consuming oleander seeds (Ganneru pappu) late on Tuesday night.
She resorted to the extreme step due to “unbearable stomach pain”, police said, quoting the petition filed by her family members.
Sources said that Divya allegedly consumed the oleander seeds, considered highly toxic, at her residence on Tuesday afternoon. She was first rushed to a private hospital in Karimnagar.
A short while later, she was shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad, where she died while undergoing treatment, sources added.
She is survived by her husband and two sons aged 10 and 6 years, respectively.
The Karimnagar One Town police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
The exact cause of the suicide will be known after the post-mortem report, said a police officer investigating the case.
