Personnel of the Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams seized cash amounting to ₹44,25,820 without valid documents at various places in the nine Assembly constituencies in Tiruchi district as on March 25 up to 6 p.m.
The Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams were constituted in each Assembly constituency from the time the Model Code of Conduct came into effect after the Election Commission announced the date of the assembly election for Tamil Nadu.
The Tiruchi district consists of Manapparai, Srirangam, Tiruchi West, Tiruchi East, Tiruverumbur, Lalgudi, Mannachanallur, Musiri, and Thuraiyur (SC) Assembly constituencies with Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams have been constituted in each seat.
While conducting vehicle checks, the teams had been seizing cash found carried without valid documents at various places in the nine constituencies. Cash amounting to ₹21,74,300 was seized by the Flying Squads while the total amount confiscated by the Static Surveillance Teams was ₹22,51,520.
An official release said the seized amount released by officials till March 25 was ₹21,57,380.
