NGT urged to protect and preserve Ooty Race Course

The Nilgiri Documentation Centre (NDC) and the founder of Save Nilgiris Campaign (SNC) has appealed to the National Green Tribunal to “protect and preserve” the Ooty Race Course.

In a statement, Venugopal Dharmalingam, honorary director of the NDC, said that the proposal to convert the race course into an eco-park was “fraught with immense environmental, social and economic consequences to the Ooty town, the local public and the millions of tourists.”
