Vice Admiral K. The honour was presented at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Ati Vishisht Seva Medal is one of India’s highest peacetime military decorations, awarded for distinguished service of an exceptional order. According to the Indian Navy, the award recognises his contributions to strengthening the Navy’s operational capabilities and enhancing the country’s defence preparedness through his leadership, technical expertise, and strategic vision.

A native of Nimmakuru in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, Vice Admiral Srinivas assumed charge as Director General of Naval Projects in Visakhapatnam on November 1, 2025, after serving as the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.

Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1990, he is an alumnus of Sainik School, Korukonda, and the National Defence Academy. During a career spanning more than 35 years, he has held several operational, technical, and strategic appointments. His sea service includes appointments on board the erstwhile aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He also served as Warship Production Superintendent at Severodvinsk in Russia, where he supervised the repair and re-equipping of INS Vikramaditya.

Before taking charge as Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, he served as Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji and later as Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyards and Refit).

Vice Admiral Srinivas is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the erstwhile Naval War College at Karanja, and the National Defence College in New Delhi.
