A man murdered his wife near Karaikudi in a fit of rage after she served him leftover rice.
Police said, Prashanth, 35, a daily wage labourer from Kottaiyur near Karaikudi in Sivaganga district, had previously been married and divorced. Following his divorce, he married Uyyammal, 42, from Anna Nagar, Puduvayal.
The couple lived in Puduvayal and frequently had domestic disputes. On Wednesday afternoon, Uyyammal served leftover rice to Prashanth for lunch.
Enraged by this, Prashanth attacked her and pushed her to the ground.
Uyyammal sustained injuries and died on the spot. The Sakkottai police recovered the body and sent it to the Karaikudi Government Hospital for a post-mortem.
The police have arrested Prashanth and further investigation is under way.
