Two workers of a coffee seeds godown had reportedly stolen over 30,000 kg of coffee seeds worth ₹70 lakh in Virudhunagar in the last one year.
According to the businessman, E. Rajavel, 47, he was alerted by a lathe workshop owner that some workers had been taking bags of coffee seeds on two-wheelers through the rear entrance of the godown for the last few days.
Based on the alert, Rajavel had checked the stocks in the godown.
He had found that over 30,000 kg of coffee seeds were missing as per the records.
The CCTV footage showed that Vinoth Kannan, who was in-charge of the godown, along with one of the workers, Manoj, had stealthily taken the bags and sold them.
Virudhunagar West police have booked the two accused for criminal breach of trust and theft.
Further investigation is under way.
