If the BRS is a party that provides ‘justice to one family’ alone, the Congress has become a party of ‘justice for brothers’, while the BJP is the only party that truly stands for ‘justice for the people’, asserted Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday.
Addressing a State OBC Morcha meeting at the party’s State office, he demanded that the State government release details of the number of people assisted by the MBC Corporation and the amount of funds disbursed over the past couple of years.
“Is the MBC Corporation actually functioning? Does it have sufficient funds? Even the BC Corporation does not have adequate funds. Then whom are they trying to fool? Whom is the Congress trying to deceive?” he asked.
The BJP State chief said BCs must remember that they were ‘betrayed by both the BRS and the Congress” and that it was only the BJP that had delivered justice to them. He urged party cadres to publicise the Union government’s welfare schemes and explain how various communities have benefited from them. The BCs were finally getting justice because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, he asserted.
Mr. Rao alleged that the 5% reservation for Muslims within the BC quota being provided by the Congress government was depriving genuine BC communities of their rightful share of reservations. It was a matter of serious concern that, even politically, several municipal divisions reserved for BCs were being won by the AIMIM and members of the Muslim community, he claimed.
He charged that not a single Congress-ruled State had a BC Chief Minister, even as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the representation of BCs under the BJP government. During its tenure, the Congress-led UPA government did not appoint a single OBC Secretary, he alleged. Of the 102 officers appointed during that period, only two belonged to the Scheduled Tribe community, while none were from the OBC community, the BJP leader added.
