Contract and assistant professors of Nizam College staged a rally on Thursday, demanding equal pay for equal work, implementation of the 7th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) scales and job security for long-serving employees.

The employees marched from the principal’s office to Gate No. 2 of the college around noon, raising concerns over lack of regularisation and fair remuneration despite having served the institution for several years.

The employees alleged that despite their experience and qualifications, they continued to work without adequate job security or pay parity with regular employees. They also demanded that wages for contract and assistant professors be brought on a par with those of regular staff performing similar duties. They also sought implementation of the 7th PRC pay scales for all long-serving employees.

Seeking regularisation, the employees referred to assurances given by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on providing job security and pay parity to eligible employees.
