Collector Durgamoorthi inaugurates the extension of the breakfast scheme at a school in Dindigul district.
The State government’s ‘Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme’ was expanded to include students studying in Classes VI to VIII, on Tuesday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated the State-wide expansion at the Chennai Middle School in Thiruvanmiyur in Chennai. Dindigul and Theni Collectors inaugurated the scheme in their respective districts.
In Dindigul district, Collector Durgamoorthi inaugurated the expansion of the scheme at Nallamanaickenpatti Government Higher Secondary School in Thottanoothu in the presence of Dindigul MP R. Sachithanantham. The Collector served food and had breakfast with the students. A total of 1,28,660 students would benefit from the expansion of the scheme in the district.
In Theni district, Collector R. Vaithinathan inaugurated the expansion of the scheme at Melachinthalaicheri Government Higher Secondary School in Uthamapalayam in the presence of Cumbum MLA P.L.A. Jeganath Mishra. The Collector served food and had breakfast with the students. A total of 30,056 students across the district would benefit from the expansion of the scheme in the district.
In Virudhunagar district, a total of 1,23,480 students would benefit from the expansion of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast scheme.
Industries Minister, S. Keerthana, formally inaugurated the scheme in the presence of Virudhunagar district Collector, Sharanya Ari, in Sivakasi.
The Minister said that students of 485 Government and Aided schools studying 6th to 8th would get breakfast at their schools.
Sivakasi Sub-Collector, Mohammed Irfan, Corporation Commissioner, Kannan, Chief Educational Officer, Aravindan, were among those who were present.
