The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad Zone team, along with the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police, arrested an inter-State ganja peddler and seized 8 kg of ganja and a mobile phone.
The accused was identified as Raj Pradhan alias Gaura, 22, a farmer from Bartini village in Ganjam district of Odisha. Police said he had travelled to Hyderabad carrying the contraband with the intention of selling it to customers in the city and surrounding areas.
Pradhan came in contact with another Odisha-based person, identified as Ram Brada alias Bolaram alias Ram, who supplied ganja to him. Pradhan procured the contraband at around ₹8,000 for a 2-kg packet and planned to sell it for ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 to customers in Hyderabad.
Acting on a tip-off, the task force team apprehended Pradhan and recovered 8 kg of ganja from his possession. The total value of the seized contraband and mobile phone was estimated at ₹4 lakh. The supplier, Ram Brada, is currently absconding, police said.
A case was registered at RGIA Police Station under Section 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is under way.
