To modernise public transport in the State, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) announced on Friday that as many as 80 Green Metro AC buses will be introduced to the Visakhapatnam district fleet.
APSRTC Visakhapatnam Regional Manager B. Appala Naidu inspected a Green Metro AC bus, a fully electric vehicle, that reached the Gajuwaka depot on Friday. âWe are introducing these [Green Metro AC] buses in the district for the first time in the State. They will be introduced on various routes after registering them and obtaining required permissions,â Mr. Naidu said.
30 buses will arrive at the Gajuwaka bus depot by the end of September, and the other 50 will be deployed at Simhapuri depot by the end of October, taking the total number of e-buses in the district to 80, he said, adding, âThese buses are fully electric and will help in curbing pollution levels in the district.â
Each bus has 35 seats and standing room is provided for passengers. The buses are equipped with four CCTV cameras, automatic doors and air suspension, which, he said, will help passengers travel in comfort.
