Two people were killed in separate accidents in the district on Sunday evening.
R. Harihara Subramani (40), a resident of Vinayagapuram near Narasingapuram and an astrologer, was heading to Thennankudipalayam on a moped around 8 p.m. on Sunday. While crossing the Attur bypass road, a car driven by a doctor, Nirmal Kumaran (26), a resident of Poonamallee in Chennai, hit the two-wheeler. In the accident, Subramani sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The Attur Rural police registered a case and are investigating.
In another incident, Chinnapillai (68), a resident of Moongaleri near Mallur and a labourer, was going to her daughter’s house at Ammapalayam around 5 p.m. on Sunday. While she was crossing the Salem-Namakkal National Highways to catch a town bus, an unidentified vehicle hit her and fled. In the accident, she sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. The Mallur police registered a case.
