Kuppam farmers should become MSME entrepreneurs, says Chandrababu Naidu

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said turning farmers into entrepreneurs would be the right way to drive Kuppam’s economic growth.

Interacting with poultry farmers in Kuppam on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu said the government had launched a pilot project to establish Environmentally Controlled (EC) poultry sheds on a large scale in partnership with IB Group, with the aim of promoting climate-resilient poultry farming.

“Our goal is to enable farmers to grow into MSME entrepreneurs,” Mr. Naidu said, adding that all permissions for EC sheds would be granted in real time to facilitate the speedy establishment of the units.

The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh was implementing a dedicated policy to promote the poultry sector, while also focusing on dairy, horticulture and sericulture to diversify farm incomes.

Mr. Naidu said changing food habits had led to a sharp increase in the consumption of protein-rich chicken and eggs, creating significant market opportunities for farmers. The government was working on plans to strengthen road and rail connectivity to tap the growing demand, he said.

“This will facilitate faster transportation of poultry products from Kuppam to major markets, including Bengaluru,” Mr. Naidu said.

Kuppam was fast emerging as a satellite township of Bengaluru due to improved connectivity, he said, urging farmers to make use of government support and help transform the constituency into a hub for agri-business and industry.
