Virudhunagar District Police have booked a few persons, including former functionaries of a trust running a school in Aruppukottai, on the charge of swindling ₹1.51 crore between 2022 and 2024.
Based on a complaint from the assistant secretary of the school, C. Baskaran, 44, the police on Tuesday booked several persons, including J. Manimurugan, Murugadass, A.R. Babu, R. Sivaramakrishnan, for misappropriation of funds, falsification of accounts, criminal trespass and criminal intimidation.
The complainant said upon assuming office in May 2024, he found ₹1.51 crore missing from the school account. Cashier Balan and Headmaster Anantharajan complained that the accused, along with a few others, entered the school premises and taken away the money. They also threatened them with dire consequences if they revealed it to others.
Further investigation is on.
