Even as most of the students have joined colleges after their Plus Two and the quarterly examinations are going on, a career guidance awareness event for former government school Plus Two students was organised here on Wednesday by the Department of School Education.
Inaugurating the event at ICE Government Higher Secondary School in Tenkasi, District Collector Ranjeet Singh urged the parents and the teachers just to guide their children and allow them to take the final decision as they know very well their passion and strength. Instead of imposing their ideas on children, parents and teachers, before arriving at any conclusion, should listen to what their children say, he added.
The Collector assured the parents and the students of all possible help to avail educational loan so as to ensure their unhindered education.
Mr. Ranjeet Singh appealed to the students to be in touch with their teachers always as they would be the ‘pole stars’ in the life of every student.
Most of the parents and a few students, who attended the awareness meeting criticised the timing of this event.
“This awareness event should have been organised in mid-May or in June as most of the students have already joined the higher education courses they opted for. They are about to write their first semester examination within another 30 to 45 days. However, the Department of Education is organising this awareness event towards the end of September. Since this event is organised in the midst of quarterly examinations, even the current Plus Two students cannot attend the meeting as they are now preparing for their quarterly examinations,” they said.
