58 shell companies registered at AAP HQs, party alleges conspiracy by BJP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government, questioning how 58 unknown shell companies came to be registered at the address of its national headquarters. The BJP declined to comment on the allegations, when contacted.

AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that 58 Goods and Services Tax (GST) registrations were made after “Aadhaar verifications” under different names at the government bungalow, the party’s headquarters at 1, Canning Lane, New Delhi — between July and September this year.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Bharadwaj said, “Our direct question to the Central government is: how did these 58 businesses get registered at the address of the Aam Aadmi Party’s national office? The central government must answer what conspiracy was being carried out and, after investigating it, tell us who was involved. From which servers and computers was this registration exercise being conducted and which officers came here for verification?”

The party said that it has sent a formal complaint on the issue to the Principal Commissioner of GST (Delhi Zone) and Delhi Police.
The AAP Delhi chief alleged that ahead of elections, the BJP levels false allegations against the party for political gains as it had done before the 2024 Delhi polls with the ‘liquor scam’.

Mr. Bharadwaj further claimed that the registrations were intentionally done ahead of upcoming elections to defame the party. “This was planned by the BJP so that before the February 2027 (Punjab) elections, they could have planted this news and run a campaign against us — that AAP runs several shell companies through which it receives donations,” he said.
