BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav has asked party leaders and workers to remain alert and extend assistance to people in the rain-affected areas in North Andhra, coastal Andhra and the Godavari districts.
Addressing them through a teleconference on Thursday, Mr. Madhav reviewed the situation arising from heavy rains caused by the deep depression in the Bay. He said people were welcoming the rains as the State experienced deficient rainfall. However, heavy rains could lead to inundation and cause difficulties to people in some areas, requiring party workers to take precautionary measures, he said.
Mr. Madhav asked the party workers to visit the affected areas and identify problems being faced by people and take steps for immediate assistance. They should bring details of inundation and damage to the notice of the district administration, he said.
Party leaders should also keep the State leadership informed about the situation in their respective mandals and villages, he said. The BJP cadres should coordinate with the government machinery wherever necessary to provide assistance to people, Mr. Madhav said.
He called upon the party workers to give priority to the safety of people and remain alert and participate in relief and service activities until the rains subside.
