Human skeleton found in Devakottai tank; police launch DNA tests, investigation

Police have retrieved a human skeleton found in a tank near Devakottai and launched an investigation.

Local residents who saw it on Thursday night informed the police and revenue department officials.

Devakottai DSP Kannan and team conducted an inquiry at the scene. Subsequently, they recovered the skeleton and sent it to the Devakottai Government Hospital for DNA testing.

Based on a complaint lodged by Naranamangalam Village Administrative Officer Sarathkumar, the Devakottai Taluk police have registered a case and are investigating.

Police said, “locals state that someone who came to the tank for fishing might have died. We are inquiring into that. We are also collecting and investigating details of missing persons in that area.”
