Chamber Arbitration Tribunal Hall inaugurated

Madras High Court Judge Justice C.V. Karthikeyan inaugurated the renovated Chamber Arbitration Tribunal Hall on Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises, on Friday.

The Tribunal Hall has three separate halls dedicated for arbitration. Addressing the gathering, Justice Karthikeyan said Madurai should have an arbitration centre.

Litigation was now moving towards resolution of disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and the litigants require a foreseeable solution.

We now have 23 judges at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court which is a recognition of the efforts of the Bar and the fact that the litigants have confidence in the Madurai Bench. The pendency is controllable but filing is increasing day by day. It only shows the trust the public have in the Madurai Bench, he said.

He said a small idea was conveyed to the chamber and it has now become a reality. He appreciated the facilities at the renovated hall and urged the people to make the best use of the facilities which included the hall, library, and a common area.

President of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry N. Jegatheesan, the officer bearers of the chamber, advocates and others were present at the inauguration.
