Gang robs jeweller of gold worth ₹1.49 crore in Tiruchi, destroys CCTV cameras

In a daylight robbery, a four-member gang allegedly assaulted two men and decamped with about one kilogram of refined gold worth ₹1.49 crore from a jewellery unit near Big Bazaar Street in Tiruchi on Friday.

According to the police, Udhay, 36, a native of Maharashtra and a gold appraiser by profession, runs a jewellery workshop on Periya Chetti Street. He buys gold, melts it, and sells refined bullion. Nithin, 19, who also hails from Maharashtra, works at the shop and stays on the premises.
