Telugu Desam Party MLC Bhumireddy Ramagopal Reddy has accused the previous YSRCP regime led by the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, of having indulged in a ₹500 crore scam by selling jobs in Sachivalayam (ward and village secretariats).
Addressing the media in Kadapa on Saturday, he said each job was sold for anything between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh by the YSRCP leaders at various levels.
“Names of the candidates written on paper chits were sent to the district Collectors, recommending them for the jobs,” the TDP leader charged.
Mr. Reddy also pointed out that as many as 3,437 jobs were given under sports quota, with 801 ‘selected’ for merely participating in school games.
“Any candidate who had played, not won any medal or prize, any game in the neighbourhood school and produced a certificate to this effect got a job,” he remarked.
The MLC also blamed the previous government for giving jobs to those who had participated in rural games, folk festivals and countryside celebrations like ‘Sankranti Sambaralu’.
With such a shabby track record, Mr. Jagan was blaming our sports quota policy, Mr. Reddy said, demanding that the State government probe the case and unearth the scam.
