EESL to showcase A.P. Anganwadi success story in Germany

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) Government’s clean-cooking initiative covering 55,746 Anganwadi Centres is set to receive international recognition as Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) will showcase it at a global knowledge-exchange platform in Ravensburg, Germany from September 28 to October 2, 2026.

EESL was invited by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to participate in the international study tour and share India’s experiences in energy efficiency, clean energy solutions, and sustainable development.

A.P.’s Anganwadi clean-cooking programme is one of the successful Indian initiatives which EESL will highlight, as to how energy efficiency can be integrated with social welfare and nutrition services on a large scale, according to an official release.

EESL CEO Akhilesh Kumar Dixit is scheduled to make a special presentation on the clean-cooking intervention being implemented across 55,746 Anganwadi Centres under the Women & Child Welfare Department.

The initiative replaces conventional cooking practices with energy-efficient induction stoves and modern utensils, aimed at providing safer and cleaner cooking environments for Anganwadi workers and children while reducing energy consumption and cooking costs.

The programme is aimed at delivering around 30% savings in cooking costs, creating smoke-free kitchens, improving indoor air quality, thereby avoiding an estimated 28,327 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

Scale and speed of implementation have positioned A.P.’s initiative as a significant example of integrating social welfare, energy efficiency, clean technology, and environmental sustainability.

The initiative reflects the Government of India’s broader efforts to modernise cooking infrastructure in public institutions and reduce dependence on conventional cooking methods under the National Efficient Cooking Programme.
