The ‘Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram’ scheme is set to be officially launched on September 28, 2026, by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.
Under this welfare scheme, every child born in government hospitals across the State starting from June 22, 2026, will be presented with a one-gram gold coin.
To be eligible for the benefit, mothers must present any one of six prescribed Tamil Nadu residency and identity proofs: an e-KYC-verified Aadhaar card, a residency certificate, a voter ID card, a family card (ration card), an identity card issued by the Labour Welfare Board, or an address certificate issued by the Postal Department.
In Ramanathapuram district, a total of 1,917 babies who were born in government medical institutions since June 22 and are currently residing at home will receive their gold coins through a special district administration rollout.
Distribution will be conducted in a phased manner across designated regional government facilities, including the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital, Puthukudi Government Hospital, R.S. Mangalam Government Hospital, and local halls in Thoothukudi, Pazhangoor, Kodumalur, Thiruppullani, Nagoor, and surrounding centres. The schedule spans from September 28 to October 21, 2026.
To ensure a smooth distribution process, the district administration has arranged transportation from various local areas to the designated centers.
To prevent overcrowding and maintain orderly operations, distributions will be held daily in two fixed sessions—10 a.m. and 1 p.m. —capped at 25 beneficiaries per session (50 per centre per day).
Official invitation slips are being distributed starting today through local village health nurses.
Authorities have requested beneficiaries to arrive strictly according to the date and time printed on their slips.
