The rally of All India Kisan Sabha under way in Thoothukudi on Sunday.

The 31st State conference of the Tamil Nadu Farmers Association, a unit of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), began here on Sunday.
The three-day conference of the association, affiliated to the CPI(M), will conclude on Tuesday.
On the first day, a rally and public meeting were organised. The rally, led by association State president D. Ravindran, began from 12th Street in Anna Nagar. Thousands of farmers from across Tamil Nadu participated in the rally.
The rally proceeded through Anna Nagar Main Road, VVD Junction and Palayamkottai Road before concluding near Chidambaranagar bus stop, where a public meeting was held.
AIKS general secretary Viju Krishnan, vice-president Hannan Mollah, CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam and several others were present.
The delegates’ conference will begin on Monday at A.V.M. Kamalavel Mahal. The work and organisational report and the income and expenditure statement will be presented in the afternoon, followed by group discussions and interaction among delegates, which will continue on Tuesday.
The new State committee office-bearers and delegates to the AIKS national conference will be elected on the same day.
