IndiGo A321 involved in another tail strike

An IndiGo Airbus A321 was involved in yet another tail strike at Bengaluru airport on Sunday (September 27, 2026), marking at least the ninth known such incident involving the airline’s A321 fleet.

In a statement, the airline said an “abnormal runway contact” occurred during “gusty wind conditions” in Bengaluru.

The aircraft was operating a flight from Guwahati. It aborted its initial landing attempt at Bengaluru airport before making a final landing at 12.15 p.m., industry sources said.

A tail strike occurs when the rear section of an aircraft comes into contact with the runway during landing, take-off or a go-around.

IndiGo said all relevant authorities had been informed. The aircraft has been grounded and is undergoing maintenance checks.
