A group of 14 persons allegedly assaulted two ticket-checking staff members at Hazur Sahib Nanded railway station while passengers were boarding Train No. 17688 Marathwada Express, which was travelling from Dharmabad to Manmad.
The group allegedly attacked the on-duty ticket checking staff without provocation and dragged Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) R.K. Singh into the train. Another TTE, Jitendra Kumar, attempted to intervene but was unable to prevent the assault as the train had started moving at around 5.32 a.m. on Monday (September 28, 2026).
The Train Manager noticed the commotion and immediately stopped the train. Another TTE on the platform alerted railway staff, following which action was initiated. Four of the accused reportedly escaped, while the remaining 10 were detained and a case was registered against them. Mr. Singh, who sustained injuries in the attack, was shifted to a railway hospital for treatment, according to a press release.
