A 23-year-old woman and her six-month-old girl child were found dead in their house in Voimedu police station limits in the district in the late hours on Wednesday. The bodies were identified as that of S. Kavya, 23, and her baby S. Samira. The two bodies were sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital at Orathur in Nagapattinam.
The police said Kavya took the extreme step alleging harassment by her in-laws. The woman had been staying in her mother’s house and reportedly posted a video on a social media platform alleging that she was taking the extreme step following harassment by her in-laws. The Voimedu police have registered a case and have detained the woman’s mother-in-law P. Senthamizhselvi.
