The Keralam Forest department tranquillised and captured Kannur Makhna-1 (KM-1), a male elephant in the Aralam rehabilitation area and loaded the animal onto a transport vehicle around 6 p.m. on Thursday with the help of kumki elephants for relocation to Muthanga in Wayanad.

According to Divisional Forest Officer K. Saji, the elephant was darted earlier in the day, and after it became subdued, a path was cleared towards the animal using an earthmover to facilitate its movement to the road and loading onto the vehicle.
Officials said the animal would be shifted to Muthanga, where a kraal has been made, on Thursday night.
