Gram sabha meetings were held in villages across Dindigul and Theni districts on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2026) on Friday. A pledge against child marriage was administered at the gram sabha meetings.

In Dindigul district, Collector Durgamoorthi presided over the gram sabha meeting held at Thottanuthu panchayat in Dindigul panchayat union. Other government officials were present.

Various issues such as proper road connectivity, bus services, access roads to the electric crematorium, proper drinking water facilities, and fair price shops in the area were discussed at the meeting. The Collector told the residents that necessary steps would be taken to address these issues.

At the meeting, 25 sanitary workers were presented with new clothes. To facilitate segregation of waste into four categories in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, color-coded bins in green, red, blue, and black were distributed.

In Theni district, Collector R. Vaithinathan presided over the gram sabha meeting held at Kodangipatti panchayat in Bodinayakanur panchayat union.

The residents were advised to visit the nearest primary health centre or government hospital if they experienced symptoms such as fever, headache, cold, cough, or sore throat and avoid self-medication. The Collector advised the residents to ensure that their surroundings were kept clean.
