World Heart Day was observed at Thanjavur Medical College here on Tuesday (September 29).
TM. Chenniyappan, senior cardiologist, Ramakrishna Medical Centre, Tiruchi, was the special guest and addressed the participants of a workshop, ‘Decode the Beat’.
Dean E. Manimegala, Vice-Principal N. Arumugan, Medical Superintendent C. Ramasamy, Resident Medical Officer A. Selvam, ARMOs K. H. Mohamed Ithris and A. Muthumagesh and Head of the Department of Cardiology P. Jaisankar were among those who participated in the event.
The department has performed more than 17,700 Cath Lab and cardiac device procedures at the Cath Lab facility established at the hospital in 2019 by the Centre. It has steadily expanded its interventional cardiology services and performed a substantial number of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, according to an official release.
