Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday (October 5, 2026) announced that the government would spend ₹30,156 crore in the next two years under the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 ‘Amarajeevi Jaladhara’ to provide drinking water to 90 lakh households in the State.

Mr. Naidu, who inaugurated the scheme along with Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan at Proddatur in Kadapa district, reiterated the NDA government’s resolve to bring a number of development projects to Andhra Pradesh.

Referring to the schemes launched since the coalition came to power 28 months ago, he said the government had laid a strong foundation with the support of the Centre, which would help the funds-starved State bounce back.

He said nine schemes had been launched in Andhra Pradesh in the last seven days, including Palle Panduga 3.0 to develop rural roads and drains with ₹11,085 crore, the distribution of house site pattas worth ₹52,000 crore, the ₹1-lakh-crore ‘Global Horticulture Hub – Rayalaseema Rising’ project, the construction of 19 lakh houses across the State and ‘Amarajeevi Jaladhara’.

Referring to his commitment to development, Mr. Naidu recalled his resolve to stamp out Naxalism from the State, for which he had paid the price in the form of a claymore mine attack on his life in Tirupati in 2003, which he survived. He urged the public to work tirelessly for the next 20 years to make Andhra Pradesh lead India’s growth story and help India dictate terms to the world.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan said the NDA government was determined to take development to people, irrespective of their political preferences. He pointed to the development projects initiated in the Paderu and Araku constituencies, both represented in Parliament by YSRCP members, to show that the government was not driven by votes.

“We also do not believe in witch hunting or political vendetta. In spite of being at the receiving end of attacks in the past, we never intended to retaliate,” he said.

Jagan ‘ultimate beneficiary’ of Viveka murder: Naidu

At the same meeting, Mr. Naidu challenged YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on various issues and dared him to face him with facts.

Without naming Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he used the term (Goddala Party)‘ “Axe party” to refer to the YSRCP and called Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy the “ultimate beneficiary” in the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) scam, the liquor scam and others.

“₹40 crore in the form of ‘supari’ was paid for the uncle’s murder. Several crores of rupees were swindled in the liquor and sand scams. Attenders and electricians were employed to correct the answer sheets in the Group I exams. All the accusing fingers are pointing towards one person, who is the ultimate beneficiary,” he said.

Instead of facing the public on such allegations, the “Axe party” was bent on spreading fake narratives and distorting facts to project the government in a bad light, Mr. Naidu alleged. He also accused the YSRCP of depending only on betrayal, violence and concocted narratives for its survival, instead of having any ideological framework.

He also alleged that the previous government had played a role in the forced conversion of Hindus to Christianity.
