Under criticism for increasing fees for various services in the Revenue Department, the State government on Monday decided to temporarily withhold the revised fee for various land survey applications received from the public under the Mojini system of the Department of Survey, Settlement and Land Records. The new fee had come into effect from October 1.

This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister G. Parameshwara. “In view of the severe drought situation prevailing in the State and keeping farmers’ interests in mind, Mr. Parameshwara directed the officials to temporarily withhold the revised fee for various survey applications received under the Mojini system,” a note said. Earlier, he had defended the hike.

A decision has been taken to temporarily withhold the revised fee so that the increase in survey and revenue service charges does not place an additional burden on farmers, he said.

He clarified that, until further orders, the fee structure in force prior to October 1 will continue to apply to Mojini services.
