Belagavi-based KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Purosil Performance Hose LLP, to strengthen their collaboration in sustainable polymer materials based on the emerging concept of “Biocongruent Chemistry”.
Purosil is an industrial manufacturing organisation with operations in India located at Aequs SEZ, Hattargi Village, in Belagavi district.
The collaboration brings together academic research and industrial capabilities to explore polymer systems that retain the required performance and service life while exhibiting improved interaction with natural transformation processes at the end of their useful life.
The initiative forms part of an international research effort involving MCPU Polymer Engineering, LLC, U.S.; KLS GIT, India; Purosil; the National Institute for Materials Advancement, U.S.; and LCA Design, Canada. The underlying research has examined the incorporation of soy- and lignin-based building blocks and other bio-derived components into established polymer formulations.
The KLS GIT has been associated with the underlying research supporting Biocongruent Chemistry, providing an important academic dimension to the international collaboration.
This association has now been formalised through an MoU signed between the KLS GIT and Purosil Performance Hose LLP on September 23, 2026. The MoU provides a framework for cooperation encompassing research collaboration, public communication, academic acknowledgement and exploration of future collaborative initiatives and facility development.
A key future direction under the MoU is the exploration of a Centre for Sustainable Materials, Engineering and Industrial Commercialisation within the KLS GIT Research and Innovation Development framework. The proposed initiative is envisaged as a platform for advancing research, technology development, industrial validation, knowledge exchange and commercialisation-oriented activities in sustainable materials and engineering, said a release.
