The Kumbra Jatthappa Rai Foundation in association with other organisations will release Gandhi Pajjeda Sadi Patthondu, the translated Tulu version of Aerya Lakshminarayana Alva-edited Gandhi Hejjeya Jadinalli Jatthappa Rai Jeevanagathe here on Thursday.

Foundation founder Pramod Kumar Rai told reporters here on Tuesday that the release would be followed by a seminar and a talk on “Gandhi and World Peace” by Shrikrishna Gajanana Kulkarni, great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme on freedom fighter Kumbra Jatthappa Rai, is being jointly organised with Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi-Bengaluru, University College-Mangaluru, Tulu Adhyayana Peetha, Mangalore University and others at the University College at 10.30 a.m.

Mr. Rai said Health and Family Welfare and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U.T. Khader will inaugurate the programme in the presence of Smaraka Nidhi president Wooday P. Krishna, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor P.L. Dharma, Dravidian University-Kuppam Vice-Chancellor L.C. Mallaiah, Inspector General of Police (Western Range) R. Chethan and others, while former Kannada University Vice-Chancellor B.A. Vivek Rai will launch the book.

He said the Kannada work on Jatthappa Rai was published through the Rashtra Kavi Manjeshwara Govinda Pai Research Centre. An English version of the book was brought out a few years ago, The Tulu version was getting released at a time when the language was recognised as the additional official language of Karnataka, he said.
