Two men from Andhra Pradesh were arrested with 35 kg of ganja worth around ₹17.60 lakh while they were allegedly waiting to hand over the consignment to another person at Amangal Market Yard, Future City police said.

The accused were identified as Kunjam Chandu Babu Dora, 26, a delivery worker from Tamarapalli village in Rampachodavaram mandal, and Kosu Venkata Sai Babu Dora, 23, a mason from Pamugandi village in Devipatnam mandal.

Acting on information, the Maheshwaram Special Operations Team (SOT) and Amangal police intercepted the duo at the market yard around 12.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Police seized 35 kg of ganja packed in 17 packets, and a mobile phone.

During questioning, police learnt that a ganja dealer identified as Abhi from the Rampachodavaram area had offered the two men ₹50,000 each to transport the consignment and deliver it at Amangal.

The duo accepted the offer and transported ganja to Amangal, where they were waiting to hand it over to an unidentified recipient when the police teams apprehended them, according to the police. Further investigation into the source and intended recipient of the consignment is under way.
