Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ at the amphitheatre in Central Park, Connaught Place, in central Delhi.

Ms. Gupta said every plant used in the mandala was not merely part of an artistic creation, but also a symbol of the commitment to planting, protecting and nurturing plants, as well as preserving and developing Delhi’s forests and urban green spaces.

“Just as every element of a mandala comes together to complete a beautiful composition, every plant and green space contributes to creating a healthy environment and improving the quality of life,” she said.

She said the mandala rangoli represented the rich tradition of Indian art and culture.

“This tradition has been brought to life this time through living plants, creating a beautiful blend of art and nature. The mandala, with patterns spreading outward from the centre, is considered a symbol of wholeness and interconnectedness in life through balance and harmony. Bringing it to life with living plants makes this idea even more vibrant and tangible,” she said.

Ms. Gupta said the ‘Plant Mandala Rangoli’ also reflects the resolve for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and ‘Viksit Delhi’, asserting that development cannot be limited to modern infrastructure and economic progress.
