After receiving an overwhelming response earlier, the Karnataka Postal Circle of India Post will be selling 8,000 philately passports on October 10 and 11. The passports are being released on the occasion of National Postal Week starting October 7.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Swati Pandey, Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle, said: “The sale will be based on first-come, first-serve basis with physical tokens issued to visitors who stand in queues. There will be no online sale or advance booking for passports. Each passport costs ₹600 and will be available in Bengaluru GPO, Mangaluru, Mysuru, and Belagavi.”
While 1,500 passports will be sold in Bengaluru GPO, 500 each will be sold in these three districts on October 10. On October 11, 2000 passports will be sold in Bengaluru GPO and 1,000 each in three districts.
Vehicle parking will not be available inside the Bengaluru GPO premises on October 10 and 11. In July, around 1,000 passports were sold in a day in Bengaluru GPO and 500 each in three districts.
