The Salem Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested four real estate owners for cheating money here on Thursday (October 8, 2026).
According to the police, Prakash (36), a resident of Pudhur Agraharam near Kondalamapatti, a private company employee approached a real estate company at Kuranguchavadi and paid ₹4 lakh as advance for a land on Pudhu Road.
However, the company did not register the land in his name. When he inquired, he found that the company had received money from many persons by showing the same land.
Following this, he lodged a complaint with the CCB. The police registered a case and, on Thursday, arrested real estate company owners Amirtharaj, Tamilarasan, Mukeshvaran, and Irfan and remanded them in prison.
In a release, the CCB police said that in the name of Nakshatra Builders, Saisaran Builders, GRT Builders, ANC Builders and Constructions and S.K. Properties, unapproved companies are allegedly taking money from people by promising to provide land at a cheap price, and then cheating them by collecting money from multiple buyers while showing the same land. People affected by this fraud are advised to approach the CCB office at Thiyagi Perumal Gounder Colony, Reddiyur, to lodge complaints, the police added in the release.
