Vascular surgeon N. Sekar was presented with the ‘Dr. K.V. Thiruvengadam Award for Health Care Excellence’ by the Rotary Club of Madras East, in association with Kauvery Hospital, during an event in Chennai on Tuesday.

Instituted in 2006 in memory of the late Dr. Thiruvengadam, a renowned physician and educator, the award honours medical professionals who demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise, compassionate patient care, and sustained contributions to advancing healthcare in Tamil Nadu and beyond.

Dr. Sekar was recognised for his pioneering work in vascular surgery, his commitment to patient-centred care, and his efforts to strengthen vascular services across the region, a press note said.

Darez Ahamed, Health Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, presented the award to Dr. Sekar. The event was attended by Mayil Vahanan Natarajan, former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. M.G.R. Medical University; Aravindan Selvaraj, co-founder and executive director of Kauvery Hospital; and senior medical professionals.
