District Collector Pratik Tayal inspected some of the flood prone areas along the Cauvery banks in Tiruchi East taluk in the city on Monday to review the steps to be taken ahead of the northeast monsoon.
Accompanied by senior officials, Mr. Tayal inspected Odathurai, Cauvery Park, and Mela Chinthamani areas and the drainage systems in the areas. He inspected the areas prone to water logging and held discussions with the officials on the preventive steps to be put in place. The Collector interacted with the residents of the locality, according to an official press release.
He instructed officials to put in place all necessary preventive measures ahead of the monsoon and maintain a close vigil on water courses. Officials should be in a state of readiness to take up emergency operations and keep safe shelters ready, he said.
