Hindrance at signals

This is regarding transgenders who ask for money from road users at Arasaradi Road Junction and Kalavasal Junction. It is a public hindrance when commuters are busy travelling. Traffic constables at the traffic booth are mute spectators.

It continues at four-way main road junction. The Commissioner of Police should take steps to keep transgenders away from the junctions.

Ward for differently abled

The way the differently abled people were made to run from pillar to post at Government Rajaji Hospital when they went for authorisation certification on August 5 is disturbing.

All they need is empathy and not sympathy. It takes great efforts on the part of the differently abled persons to move from one place to another, often with assistants.

The GRH must open a dedicated ward and office without making them run from ward to ward or forcing them to come another day.

Tourist plans

Madurai and its neighbouring districts are endowed with ancient Meenakshi temples. Besides Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai city, Kambikudi (Virudhunagar district), Murayur (Sivaganga district), Kamudhi (Ramanathapuram district) and Tirumangalam and Melathirumanickam in Madurai district, ancient Meenakshi Amman temples are located.

It is presumed that there are many more such Meenakshi temples in southern districts. If the TTDC and HR & CE departments devise tour plans to visit all these Meenakshi temples, devotees will be delighted.

Damaged roads

Recent rains left the city roads badly damaged with multiple potholes and breaches. Owing to the recent rain, water started stagnating on the potholes, causing hardships to commuters.

The worst ones are Aruppukottai Main Road, Old Kuyavarpalayam Road, South and East Marret Streets and South Veli Street.

At night, the situation becomes worse as one does not know where the potholes are. Unhygienic conditions, such as stagnation of water and accumulation of garbage on the roadside, are the main reasons for mosquito breeding.

Roads should be built strongly without any compromise in quality. I request the authorities concerned to take steps at the earliest.
