Burglars entered the house of a textile shop owner at Chinniyampalayam and decamped with 12 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹2.75 lakh in cash, here on Saturday (August 16, 2025).
According to the police, Mohanraj of Kariyakaliamman Street, who runs a textile shop in the locality, had gone to Kotagiri with his family on Thursday (August 14, 2025). On Saturday morning, a relative living nearby noticed that the doors of his house had been broken open and alerted both Mohanraj and the Modakkurichi police.
Police rushed to the spot, lifted fingerprints, and launched an investigation. When Mohanraj and his family returned, they found the doors and cupboards broken open and jewellery, cash, and two laptops missing. The police are verifying CCTV footage and other clues and are investigating further.
