Based on the complaint, the police arrested the accused identified as Sidde Gowda, who is serving in Mangaluru and remanded him into judicial custody.
According to the complaint, the accused met her through a common friend at a marriage function at Bagalkot last year. The duo exchanged numbers and used to chat online before Sidde Gowda came to Bengaluru in October, 2024, and stayed in a lodge at Basaveshwaranagar.
He allegedly invited the victim to his room and had a physical relationship after proposing to marry her. In May this year, the victim claimed to have confronted him and asked about the marriage.
She alleged that an enraged Sidde Gowda abused her verbally, slapped and even threatened her with dire consequences. The accused refused to marry her saying she was from a lower caste and asked her to leave him alone, she alleged.
