The BJP district unit has hailed the GST 2.0 reforms that came into effect on Monday, describing the lower tax slabs as the Dasara gift to the State.

A rally was taken out from Yerukamamba temple in Dondaparthy via Akkayyapalem, among other places in the city, under the aegis of BJP district president M.M.N. Parasuramaraju.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh Rana was the chief guest, while BJP Andhra Pradesh president P.V.N. Madhav took part in the rally as the guest of honour.

Addressing the media, Mr. Jitendra Singh Rana said that the GST Council, comprising the Centre and the States, decided to reduce tax rates on goods and services from September 22, the first day of Navaratri.

“The GST reforms are a landmark decision taken by the government to simplify the tax structure, reduce rates on daily essentials, ” the Minister said.

The reforms will speed up MSME registrations, said Mr. Madhav.
