Netflix has unveiled the first full trailer for Train Dreams, a sweeping historical drama starring Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones as a couple trying to survive and stay connected in the rugged Pacific Northwest at the dawn of the 20th century.

Directed by Clint Bentley, the film follows Robert Grainier (Edgerton), a logger working on the expanding railroad system who grapples with isolation, grief, and the relentless pace of progress. Jones plays his wife, who faces her own struggles as industrial change threatens to upend their way of life.

Based on Denis Johnson’s acclaimed 2011 novella, Train Dreams paints a portrait of ordinary lives caught in extraordinary times. The film also stars Kerry Condon and William H. Macy and features a screenplay by Bentley and his longtime collaborator Greg Kwedar, who were both Oscar-nominated for Sing Sing.

Premiering to acclaim at Sundance and Toronto earlier this year, Train Dreams has been praised for its lyrical pacing and emotional depth. Critics have also singled out Edgerton’s performance as one of the finest of his career, as well as Adolpho Veloso’s cinematography as one of the season’s best.

Produced by Black Bear Pictures, Train Dreams opens in U.S theaters on November 7, followed by a worldwide Netflix release on November 21.
