Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi is set to star in V. Shantaram, the biopic of legendary filmmaker, Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre. The makers made the announcement on Monday, December 1, 2025 by unveiling the first look of the actor from the film. It is written and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, who is known for co-writing films like, Antim: The Final Truth (2021), Wazir (2016), and Shootout at Wadala (2013), among others.

As per a press release, the film traces the journey of the filmmaker from the silent-film era to the evolution of sound and colour. Shantaram is known for directing memorable films in Hindi and Marathi, including, Do Aankhen Barah Haath (1957), Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani (1946), Amar Bhoopali (1951) and Pinjara (1971).

In the first look unveiled by the makers, Siddhanth wears traditional Indian clothes along with a coat as he dons a firm look, posing with a film camera. The caption to the post read, “The Rebel Who Redefined Indian Cinema Is Back Where He Belongs — On the Big Screen.”

Speaking about taking on the role, Siddhant said, “It’s a great responsibility and an honour to be stepping into the shoes of an iconic filmmaker who revolutionised Indian cinema for generations to come.”

More details on the other cast members and release date are awaited.

V. Shantaram is produced by Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhash Kale and Sarita Ashwin Varde.
