An IndiGo flight from Kuwait to Hyderabad was diverted to Mumbai on Tuesday morning (December 2, 2025) after the airline received a bomb threat.

The aircraft, which was scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at 8.10 a.m., was redirected mid-route as a precaution.

Data from the flight-tracking service FlightRadar24 showed that the Airbus A321 departed from Kuwait International Airport at 1.56 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at 8.10 a.m. The aircraft, upon entering Indian airspace, was diverted and landed safely at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) at around 7.40 a.m.

Officials at the Hyderabad airport said they alerted the relevant authorities as soon as the threat email was received, following established security protocols. An official statement from IndiGo regarding the incident is awaited.

According to RGIA Inspector S. Kanakaiah, an email warning of an explosive device was sent to the GMR airport authorities at around 5.15 a.m., prompting the immediate diversion of the flight 6E1234.

Security checks were carried out upon landing in Mumbai, and the threat was later confirmed to be a hoax.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify the sender of the email.
