The Sessions Judge of the Special Court for exclusive trial of cases under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) sentenced a 28-year-old man to undergo 20 years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl.
According to the prosecution, the 14-year-old-girl went missing on August 9, 2022, and efforts by her relatives to locate her failed. Inquiries revealed that her relative, Prakashraj, kidnapped the girl and confined her to a house. When Prakashraj’s wife Deepa attempted to give food to the girl, the police nabbed her and rescued the girl. The couple were arrested.
After the trial, the judge found him guilty, and sentenced the accused to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹5,000. Later, he was lodged at Salem Central Prison. Deepa was acquitted from the case.
